Yes I'm a Science Fiction buff but in my defence I agree there is a lot of bad SF around especially on TV. However I remember as a child being captivated by a radio serial called JOURNEY INTO SPACE. From then on anything SF got me in. Then I discovered SF magazines of which the very first magazine devoted solely to SF was published in 1926. It was called AMAZING (edited by Hugo Gernsback, hence the Hugo Awards ). It finished in 2006.
In 1930, what has probably turned out to be the most popular SF mag, ASTOUNDING was first published. There were many similar mags over the years of which only a few still exist today. ASTOUNDING changed it's name to ANALOG in 1960, keeping the same format as ASTOUNDING. It is now the longest running SF mag and has produced more issues than any other SF mag (955 editions at the end of 2010 ). It still publishes 10 issues a year. I have every ANALOG ( and keeping up to date with current issues ) and have quite a few ASTOUNDING but these are harder to come by and being older, are more expensive and harder to find in good condition although they are still around.
