In my schooldays in the 1950’s it was just after the end of ‘fag cards’ being issued. But there were still a lot of cards around and the normal game at school was to flick them into a gutter and if you could get your card to partially cover another then the covered card became yours. In the last couple of years I started collecting cards for a ‘cricket tragic son’ and then got hooked on the history that these cards portray from the late 19th century to the mid 20th century. I also think of the value of cards that were just flicked down the drain.
These values have risen from nil to a card that is priced at over US$1,000,000.
Unfortunately I don't have any cards to this value but I can claim a few that are over $100.
